Rockwood Park Carriage House wedding preparations of Mallory & Sean| Wilmington, Delaware

Some couples enjoy the wedding planning process more than others and of course, having an amazing wedding planner helps. Mallory met the challenge head on and used it as an opportunity to work closely with her mother during their weekly planning visits. All the hard work paid off with a gorgeous fall wedding at Rockwood Park Carriage House.

A bit about the couple…
Mallory met Sean in high school and they quickly became best friends. They would spend every day together after school –  just talking and enjoying time together – and later decided they liked each other more than friends. Mallory still remembers the butterflies she would get spending time with Sean. They dated throughout high school and college, and they have been together for almost a decade. Mallory is a 5th grade school teacher (her students call her Miss Awesome instead of Miss Austin) and Sean works for Amazon. They have a shared love of the outdoors and deep appreciation for their families.

Who proposed and how?
Sean proposed to Mallory at the same location where he asked her to be his girlfriend. When he asked her to be his girlfriend in high school, he used a ring pop. When he proposed, he first pulled out a ring pop, and then pulled out the real ring. Mallory was completely surprised and instantly called her parents.

About the wedding planning…
Mallory: I really enjoyed planning the wedding with my mom. We would meet every weekend to plan and it was something we will always remember.  And our wedding planner Karie has been amazing throughout this whole process – we could not do it without her!

What was the most challenging part of planning?
So many decisions! We are both very easy going and it is difficult for us to make decisions.

How did you choose your venue?
We looked around at many venues, but the Carriage House had the right feel for us. It is the right mix of rustic and modern.

What was the one thing you were most stressed about before the wedding and how did it turn out?
Mallory: Surprisingly, we were both very calm the day of the wedding. Being with our friends and family throughout the weekend really helped with the stress. My sister and I actually went for a long run the morning of the wedding to help me feel relaxed.

What’s next for the two of you?
We are looking forward to going on our honeymoon this August. We are going on a hiking and mountain biking trip in Whistler, Canada. We also are planning to get a dog!
