How did you choose your venue?
The Press Lounge was perfect because it had this amazing roof area that overlooked Hell’s Kitchen – a meaningful area for us. Looking out over the neighborhood and being on the Hudson River was important to us and view is arguably one of the best in the City. They were very accommodating, great to work with and had great food.
The fact that it was also attached to a hotel where most of our guests were able to stay was a bonus!
Tell us about your decor, flowers, etc.
We chose Sunflowers in honor of my mom. They were her favorite and since she couldn’t be there, we wanted to represent her in that way. I asked Fountain House to buy and design the flowers. The members recently started a flower arranging biz. They turned out beautiful.
Tell us about your cake and/or dessert.
The cake was delicious-lemon butter cream with berries. It was a little lopsided because we asked the pastry chef to design it like the New Museum downtown.
What was the one thing you were most stressed about before the wedding and how did it turn out?
The friggin’ weather. I was checking three different weather services every 15 minutes. There was one point right before the ceremony where I realized that I was being crazy – when instead of looking up at the sky, I was checking the apps! We got what we wanted though… no rain and a gorgeous full moon over Manhattan.
How does it feel different being married?
I feel more grounded. It’s fun being married to your best friend.
What’s next for the two of you?
Jason: We just took a trip to New Orleans to celebrate my 40th birthday. Chris just surprised me by flying my siblings to NOLA to celebrate. Now that’s a good spouse!
