Kate & Ryan were married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony on the grounds of a home that has been in her family for more than 70 years. Both Kate and her father grew up there and it was a perfect location for a wedding.
Kate described her vision for the wedding…
A celebration of love vs a new beginning – we’ve been together a long time, so this is a chance for us to formalize it and have our friends and family be a part of it. We want it to be classy, but casual. Vintage-inspired, with lace and wood elements. We each really love the outdoors so – weather permitting – we just want everyone to enjoy being outside. We have a very supportive family and group of friends, for which we are so grateful. Getting married outside, and where Kate grew up will be special.
What was your favorite part of the wedding day?
Kate: The number of people who made it there to join us (and who were willing to help us put it all together – we had amazing support from friends and family), the personalization our friend Laura (our officiant) brought to the ceremony, and Ryan’s band Fiesta Melon playing late night!
Ryan: Vows with Kate
Kate’s maid of honor sang a beautiful rendition of Ave Maria as Kate walked down the aisle – in memory of her grandmother Grace…
What was the one thing you were most stressed about before the wedding and how did it turn out?
The weather. Having the wedding outside was a big piece of the day, and we knew we couldn’t rely on it being perfect. The weather ended up being quite dicey all day, but it held out through the ceremony and most of the reception. There was a hazy/misty feel to the day which guests ended up loving, and it kept what would have been a very hot and humid day cool!
When was the moment you knew you wanted to marry your spouse?
Probably about a year after we moved in together and knew that worked :)! And this followed moves and lots of travel together.
How does it feel different being married?
We’ve been together for 11 years, so it’s hard to say it feels too different, but it definitely feels like we’ve made a great next step!
What’s next for the two of you?
We want to put some roots down somewhere soon – including a house. TBD on the exact location, but it will be in New England!
